Partners for a vibrant new vision.
In March 2009, Project for Public Spaces (PPS) conducted a workshop of stakeholders to identify key requirements for energizing the plaza, park and waterfront. A variety of improvements were explored including new trails, geologic exhibits, sidewalks, food offerings, boat docks, bike rentals, historic interpretations and more. In May 2009, building on the results of the PPS workshop, over 100 community stakeholders participated in a second workshop. Led by Laurie Olin, a world-renowned landscape architect and longtime friend of Lawrence Halprin, the workshop encouraged participants to create a vision for the park and plaza. The workshop generated consensus on a new vision and a new commitment to Heritage Park and Plaza emerged.
